Nikko is a city located in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Nikko is a Japanese word meaning sunshine .The city lies next to the Daiya River, north of the Tokyo and, one of the country’s major pilgrimage and tourist attractions, is situated at the entrance to Nikko National Park. Nikko is famous for most lavishly decorated shrine and the center of Shinto and Buddhist mountain worship for many centuries before Toshogu was built that is 1600s, scenic mountainous landscapes, lakes, waterfalls, hot springs and wild monkeys.
Top attractions of Nikko are Toshogu Shrine, Shinkyo Bridge( Sacred Bridge located on the entrance of Nikko Shrine),Kurifuri Waterfaal, Lake Chuzenji and Kigon Waterfall.
The easiest way to reach to Nikko from Tokyo (150 km), by Tobu Railway.
