Kamakura

Kamakura is a historical town in Kanagawa prefecture and very popular tourist destination for Japanese and foreigners. Kamakura the old capital of Japan, smaller area than Kyoto or Nara, but has a long history with Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine built in 1063s. Japan’s capital changes their locations from one place to another place all the way through its history, and after Kypo and Nara, Kamakura became the capital. There are 100 temples and shrines in Kamakura, and the Great Buddha (Daibutsu) of Kamakura is most famous spot amongst them with height of 13.35 meters and weight 121 tons bronze statue built in 1252 at the height of Hojo power.

It is short getaway from Tokyo, and can be reached within an hour from Tokyo by train. The main attractions of Kamakura are The Great Buddha(Kotoku -inTemple) Hasedera Temple,Hokokuji Temple etc.
