Mt. Fuji is an active volcano Commonly named “Fuji-san,” Japan’s tallest peak, with heights of 3,776 meters and considered one of Japan’s 3 sacred mountains. It is 100 kms from southwest of Tokyo and can be seen from Tokyo on a clear day.
The best view of the mountain can be enjoyed from Fuji Five Lake based on northern foot of the mountain, or from Hakone and nearby hot spring resort. It is the country's sacred symbol.
